Veteran Employment Programs
California is home to over 1.5 million veterans, with Los Angeles County alone housing the largest veteran population in the nation. Veterans returning from active duty often encounter significant challenges as they reintegrate into civilian life. While they bring valuable assets like leadership, discipline, and specialized technical expertise, many face barriers to securing meaningful employment due to service-related physical injuries, mental health conditions, and difficulty translating military experience into civilian roles. Navigating the complex systems needed to access housing, healthcare, and employment support can be overwhelming, especially without guidance or a strong support network. As a result, far too many veterans experience prolonged periods of unemployment, underemployment, or even homelessness.
Goodwill Southern California is committed to addressing these barriers through specialized services tailored to the needs of veterans and their families. Our dedicated Veterans team—many of whom are veterans themselves—offers a holistic and person-centered approach to workforce development. We provide individualized career coaching, resume and interview preparation, paid transitional employment, and direct connections to employers who value military experience. Veterans are also connected to comprehensive wraparound services including housing assistance, transportation support, mental health counseling, and legal aid. Through cross sector partnerships, we help veterans navigate complex systems, regain their footing, and find pathways to sustainable, long-term employment.
Each year, Goodwill Southern California empowers more than 2,200 veterans to overcome barriers and move forward with renewed purpose, independence, and pride.
Veteran Employment Centers
Goodwill is proud to operate 2 dedicated Employment Centers for Veterans in San Bernardino and Los Angeles. Additionally, Veterans may receive customized services at all of our WorkSource Centers and AJCCs.
